Skid of horizontal test separator for onshore application


Horizontal test separators are used to separate well fluids into three phases, oil, gas, water. Also, another main function is flow measurement and sampling of fluids and gases. Horizontal test separators are used in onshore oilfield facilities and offshore platforms. This Article gives information for onshore horizontal test separators and their structures. The skid for onshore application shall be designed as per codes & standards for steel structure and serve reliably based on payload. Mechanical engineer shall calculate and design skid for horizontal separators based on empty weight and full weight of separator and skid components. Onshore skid shall be reliable during lifting and moving from trailer. In China, Q235 steel is preferred as construction material of separator skid, while SA36 steel is applied for the client who wants skid to be manufactured based on American Standards, such as ASME, ASTM, etc.

Test separator consists of main body (pressure vessel), gas metering devices, liquid flowmeters, level controllers and gauges, pneumatic control valves, as well as other auxiliary valves and instruments for full operation under various working conditions.
